Morayfield’s adjoining parks to be unified under single name

Two adjoining parks in Morayfield will soon be known by a single name, with the City of Moreton Bay formally adopting Nairn Park to reduce confusion and better reflect how the space is used by the community.

The change will see the areas commonly referred to as Nairn Road Park and Adelong Court Park brought together under one name, recognising that the two spaces function as a single park despite being separated by a road reserve

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the move formalised a name already widely used by locals and would make the park easier for visitors to find.

“Although separated by a road reserve, the two parks function as a single open space. Having one name better reflects how locals and visitors use the park, and what they typically call it,” Mayor Flannery said

Division 12 Councillor Tony Latter, who initiated the change following feedback from residents, said the name Nairn Park directly referenced Nairn Road, where both park areas are located.

“Nairn Park is a fantastic place to kick a ball, enjoy the playground and a barbecue, or relax under the tall trees. We want to ensure everyone can find it and proudly call it by the same name,” Cr Latter said

The name change follows community consultation held between 12 November and 9 December 2025, with councillors formally approving the new name at a general council meeting on January 28.
