New deadline for motorsport park consultation

Public consultation over the planned Moreton Motorsport Park at Beachmere has been extended.

Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie has today announced consultation will be extended by a further 10 business days.

Mr Bleijie has also instructed the Corbet Group, which is proposing the $20 million motorsport park, hold a second public meeting.

In a letter to State Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan, who requested the extension, he said it has to be before the new consultation deadline June 25, 2026.

“The proponent will also be requested by my department to hold an additional community meeting during this period to ensure every member of your community has the opportunity to ask questions and have their say on the proposed development,” the Deputy Premier wrote.

It follows a heated public meeting at Beachmere Hub on Monday when some at a packed hall challenged the Corbet Group’s reports.

Opponents, at times, talked over and shouted down speakers - and park supporters - with key concerns being traffic, flooding, noise, property values, wildlife and the submissions process.

Ms Doolan welcomed the Deputy premier’s decision to extend consultation and on Facebook said: “This proposal has not been approved.

“The consultation process remains open and I encourage everyone with an interest in the project to review the information available and make a submission.”

It is proposed to build two tracks hosting motocross and speedway meetings, driver training facilities, a BMX track, pitting and grandstand seating on 24.8 hectares off Bloesch Rd.

The plan has been submitted to the State Government under the Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) process.

As a result Deputy Premier Bleijie will make the final decision on the development application.

Online submissions can be made through the MID website: www.planning.qld.gov.au/planning-framework/infrastructure-planning/ministerial-infrastructure-designations
