New dog off-leash areas planned

Three new dog of-leash areas are planned for the Moreton Bay Region – but owners and their furry friends will have to wait until the new financial year before they can use them.

Councillors voted to officially designate six off-leash parks at this week’s Moreton Bay Regional Council meeting.

Of the six, three have been built by developers, coinciding with new residential developments across the region and needed to be officially designated so council officers can enforce compliance with the conditions of using the area.

The existing off-leash zones join 56 spread across the region and are at the corner of Capestone Blvd and Richard Rd, Mango Hill; Alkina Estate, Morgan Rd, Burpengary and North Harbour, Denham Place, Burpengary East.

The three new areas will be built within Henry Pieper Park, Kippa-Ring, Brendale Street Park, Brendale and Lake Reserve, Mango Hill in the 2024-24 financial year.
