New health hub plans revealed

Proposals have been submitted to the State Government for a new health care hub in one of Moreton Bay’s fast-growing areas.

The development would provide “multi-disciplinary health care services” on what is currently a vacant block 297 Old Gympie Rd, Dakabin.

It will be managed by the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) and cater for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander communities.

The Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) application includes primary health, allied health, aged care/day respite, early childhood and paediatric service.

Plans for the 1.3-hectare site, near the Alma Rd/Plantation Rd intersection, also include ancillary facilities and outdoor community areas.

The proposal includes a range of four, two and single storey buildings for the services and a cafe.

IUIH is a regional not-for-profit community-controlled health service which delivers health, family services and employment pathways.

The MID says it has “identified a need to provide health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander communities in the City of Moreton Bay and surrounding area”.

MID is managed by the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning.
