New jobs as Coles opens latest store
Coles has created 130 new jobs at its new Deception Bay store, which opened its doors for the first time on Saturday.
The new store on Deception bay Rd, will "enhance the shopping experience through convenience" and opens alongside a new Liquorland.
“We received an overwhelming number of job applications,” Coles Deception Bay Store Manager Lee Smith said.
“We look forward to introducing our team members to the community, who represent the incredible diversity of the region.”
Coles Deception Bay includes a grab-n-go station with ready-made meals, new bakery, self-serve bread slicer and donut machine, frozen dessert and pet treat bars.
There are six Click&Collect bays for online order pick-ups and a home delivery service from the Market Square Shopping Centre store.
Coles opens alongside a new Liquorland and donate unsold edible food to SecondBite to help Lighthouse feed those facing food insecurity.
Deception Bay State School will also receive $5000 from Coles to set up a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program to encourage healthy eating.
Guide Dogs Australia will have a an in-store Collection Dog to raise funds for those with low vision or blindness.
Coles Deception Bay is open 7am-9pm Monday to Saturday and 9am-6pm on Sundays.
Just before the new store launch, changes at Coles Morayfield were revealed with speeches, cake and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the store in Morayfield Shopping Centre.
New features include an open-front bakery and DIY bread slicer, orange juice station, dessert bar and refreshed deli with seafood and grab-and-go meals.
“We’ve received plenty of positive feedback from customers who are loving the fresh coat of paint, new floors and easy-to-navigate signage, with the whole team proud to be able to offer a new experience to Morayfield residents,” store support manager Kerry Smith.
This also followed the opening of Coles Caboolture Big Fish store on Pumicestone Rd where 28 staff members have come through the supermarket’s Indigenous pre-employment training program, which provides six months mentoring.
