New phase to hospital’s $1.1b expansion

Work on the new $1.1 billion Redcliffe Hospital expansion will “significantly increase” in the next few weeks.

Early works are underway for a $36 million upgrade of the existing multi-storey carpark to add more than 530 parking spaces.

Richard Crooks Construction is set to begin main works on the carpark in July, with completion expected by the end of 2027.

A tender to deliver the hospital’s re-design was released in March, with a construction partner for the main hospital works to be appointed in coming months.

The hospital’s masterplan includes:

• At least 210 new overnight beds by 2032

• Expanded services, including maternity, endoscopy and operating theatres

• Design focused on safety for nurses, doctors and healthcare workers

• No impact to the culturally significant tree on site

“We have listened to local clinicians, health workers, patients and the community about what they want for Redcliffe Hospital,” State Member for Redcliffe Kerri-Anne Dooley said.

“They want to see a hospital fit for purpose.

“Locals will start to see a significant increase in construction activity at the hospital over coming weeks and months.”

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls said: “Our Hospital Rescue Plan has got new hospital builds and much-needed expansions back on track to deliver more than 2600 new beds across the state.”
