Plans lodged for workers' complex

A new rural workers’ accommodation complex may be built on a strawberry farm in this region, if plans are approved.

Sunray Strawberries in Wamuran has applied to Moreton Bay Regional Council for the two-stage development at its farm in Childs Rd.

Stage one includes relocating and renovating an existing building which would provide 17 accommodation rooms, showers, toilets and a communal area.

A second building provides cooking facilities, a meals area and laundry.

Stage two includes three more buildings for cooking, meals, laundry and recreation.

Twelve accommodation pods, each with four rooms, showers and toilets, would all be connected by covered walkways.

Plans show additional areas for gym, barbecue, walking paths, relaxation places, car parking and a bus drop off area.
