Podium place for X-League trio

Three friends from North Lakes finished third up at Australasia’s largest tech-powered golf competition.

Shane Myers, Paul Fraser and Jason Ash battled through the pool phase with a win and draw to reach the X-League semi-finals.

Against the eventual champions from Western Australia, the Moreton Bay trio fought hard with Shane, Paul and Jason producing clutch shots under pressure.

They fell just short of the grand final but earned a podium finish and recognition as one of Australia’s top X-League teams.

“This all began as a bit of fun, so it’s great to have experienced the championships and to secure a spot in the top three,” Jason, 45, said.

The North Lakes friends joined teams from as far as Christchurch, Darwin and Cairns at the annual X-League Championships.

In Melbourne, one of 32 X-League venues in Australia and New Zealand, they were chasing $20,000 of prizes, including a golf trip to Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania.

Now in its 14th, X-League has grown into the Southern Hemisphere’s largest technology-driven golf league, combining simulator golf with team sport and Esports.

More than 1000 players participate across three 10-week seasons each year, with the best qualifying for the national finals.
