Police round-up: luxury car, CCTV cameras stolen
Police have urged Moreton Bay residents to ensure homes and vehicles are locked, keys are hidden from view and that security cameras are installed and operating to minimise the chance of being targeted by opportunistic offenders.
The advice follows several incidents in the past week where thieves took keys from unlocked homes before using them to steal cars.
Burglaries
Newport
Luxury car stolen
A Porsche was stolen from Newport after brazen thieves stole the keys to an unlocked apartment while the resident was at home.
They entered the Griffith Rd apartment through the front door between 9pm and 10.30pm on August 13 before stealing the white 2018 Porsche.
Police believe the car, which was found at 5.20pm on August 14 at a shopping centre at Robinson Rd, Aspely, was then involved in offences throughout the night in Moreton and North Brisbane.
They are investigating a number of offences including stealing, burglary, traffic offences and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Smashed door
Police received a report of another burglary at Newport about 7am on August 14.
No property was stolen, but a sliding glass laundry door was smashed in the incident.
The Southern Cross Dve resident was woken by a loud bang at 3.30am but did not initially locate the damage, which was obscured by a blind.
Caboolture
Cash, a mobile phone and camera equipment were stolen from an aged care village at Caboolture on Monday.
Thieves entered the Tomlinson Rd property between 4.05am and 5.10am through an unlocked rear door.
Banksia Beach
CCTV cameras waiting to be installed were stolen from a Banksia Beach house last week.
Burglars smashed a sliding glass door at the back of the Emilia Close house between August 9 and August 13 before making off with the cameras.
Man charged
A 34-year-old Caboolture man was charged with multiple offences after a Honda Jazz was taken from a property at Sandra Court, Deception Bay on August 14.
The car was found the following day about 11.30am at Reserve Dve, Caboolture.
The man was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of dangerous driving and wilful damage.
Unlawful entry to motor vehicles
- A Queensland registration plate 171YPI was stolen from a vehicle parked at a Caboolture shopping centre between 2pm and 10pm on August 14.
- Loose change was stolen from two vehicles at a Candle Crescent, Caboolture property between 10pm on August 14 and 5am on August 15. Both vehicles were parked at the front of the residence.
- Other cars broken into between August 13 and August 16 were parked in Ardel Place, Carpenter Way and Clark Tce at Sandstone Point; Brett St, Lawnton; Arcadia Crescent and McPherson St, Kippa Ring; Central Ave and Bermuda Ave, Deception Bay; Rhiannon Court, Bellmere and Caboolture River Rd, Morayfield.
