Red Ride returns to stop domestic violence

A roaring sea of red will make its way around the Moreton Bay Region for the second annual Moreton Bay Red Ride on May 14, raising awareness of domestic and family violence and funds for a DV shelter.

The ride starts at Woodford Showgrounds and travels to the Redcliffe peninsula, before heading through Strathpine to Samford, Dayboro and Mt Mee back to Woodford where it culminates in a car show ‘n’ shine event with entertainment, bucking bull, food trucks, best dressed competition and even an inflatable pub at the showgrounds.

There will also be guest speakers on the topic of domestic and family violence.

The event, successfully held for the first time last year, is the brainchild of Moreton Bay Regional Councillor Tony Latter.

“Everyone has a role to play in preventing domestic violence and I am extremely proud to have founded Red Ride - Ride Against Domestic Violence last year, to create a space to raise awareness and money to help prevent it happening it Moreton Bay,” Cr Latter says.

“This year we are aiming to grow it even bigger, with a target of over 500 Bikes and 150 Classic Cars, with the addition of a Car Show and Shine.

The ride begins at 8am. Registration is $25 per rider, $15 to enter your car in the show ‘n’ shine and $10 for spectators attending the post-ride event at Woodford Showgrounds.

The event is sponsored by Caboolture Sports Club, Moreton Bay Regional Council, Richardson & Wrench Caboolture and 101.5FM - Moreton Bays Own Radio Station.
