Rylee's silver and perfect pb record

Redcliffe Leagues swimmer Rylee Smith had a podium finish and personal best times in every race at last week’s Australian Age Championships.

Smith qualified for 10 events, ranging from 100m to 1500m, at the national titles but swam seven due to event scheduling on the Gold Coast.

From those heats and finals, she took a combined total of 44.77 seconds off her pbs going into the championships.

Smith won a silver medal in the 14 Years 1500m freestyle beating her pb by 20.3 seconds.

The North Lakes resident was sixth in the 800m freestyle, beating her pb by 11.47 seconds and 400m freestyle lowering her pb by 6.35 seconds in the heats and 2.14 in the final.

In the 200 IM, Smith was 14th overall beating her pb by 2.09 seconds on the way; 18th in 200m freestyle taking 0.7 seconds off her best time.

She was 22nd in the 200m backstroke, reducing her pb by 0.81 seconds and 43rd in 100m freestyle cutting her pb by 0.9 of a second.

Smith has trained at Redcliffe Leagues since she was nine and is in the Swimming Queensland Talent Identification program and Bronze Development Squad.

Her coach Wanda Drew was named Emerging Age Group Coach at the recent Queensland Swimming Awards.
