Major expansion plans for MKT Square Deception Bay shopping centre are taking shape - fast.

Construction is nearing completion on the development which will add another 8500sqm (64 per cent) to the centre.

Fit out will soon start at the new Coles supermarket, with other retailers to follow. There will be an official opening on June 24.

Mintus Properties paid $37.5 million for the centre in 2017 believing it was a “fantastic opportunity” in our fast-growing region.

“Mintus Properties’ continued investment in MKT Square Deception Bay shows the commitment we have to the centre and area”, Ben Stewart, Mintus Director Retail and Residential, said.

Sydney-based Mintus Properties bought the six-hectare site in March 2017 when previous owners ARIO No 1 Trust went into receivership.

On completing the deal, Mintus said the centre was “a fantastic opportunity” in this fast-growing region.

MKT Square, which fronts onto Deception Bay Road, was on 13,634sqm anchored by Woolworths and Dan Murphys.
