A convoy of trucks is delivering more than 6000 tonnes of locally sourced soil to Redcliffe’s Kayo Stadium as track builders transform the venue into a US-standard supercross racing surface.
The work started this morning and is expected to take abut 48 hours, as Australia’s leading track builders Protraxx create the stage for the 2025 AUSX Championship which is on October 11 and 12.
All 9000m2 of “floor space” will be used to create the “most dynamic track build ever” ahead of the massive event.
The soil has been sourced from the nearby One Redcliffe development, where extensive excavation work is underway.
It is understood that truck movements on the Kayo Stadium field have been altered this year to protect the ground which is home to the Dolphins NRL and Hostplus Cup teams.
Dirt is being dumped in multiple locations on the field to reduce the weight and trucks are not using trailers to double their load capacity this year.
In announcing the return of the event, which made its Redcliffe debut at the same venue last year, Protraxx Director Josh Proctor said: “This is one of our most ambitious builds yet - fast, technical, and built to ensure side by side, intense racing.
“We’ve added new sections and elevated the layout in ways fans haven’t seen before — it’s going to test riders to the maximum, from the first gate drop.”
Head of Motorsport and Partnerships Mick Sinclair said: “Redcliffe delivered some of the most exciting and unpredictable racing we’ve seen, and that set the bar for 2025.
“We’re not just building a track - we’re building an experience. This layout is about bringing fans even closer to the action and launching the season with something unforgettable.”
