State gold and bronze for Grace

Lily Smith and Macey Lawler were the toast of Grace Swimming after medal-winning performances at the Queensland Sprint Championships.

There was gold and a place at the top of the podium for Smith who touched first in the 17 Years 50m backstroke at the two-day meet (February 11-12).

Macey Lawler collected bronze for third place in the 13 Years 50m backstroke, which attracted 144 entries, at Brisbane Aquatic Centre.

Olivia Smith made the top 10 in the 14 Years 50m freestyle, finishing eighth and the top 20 of the 50m backstroke when finishing 12th.

In the top 20 were Lauren Dymond with 12th in the 16 Years 50m freestyle, Macey Lawler 17th in the 50m freestyle and Sheldon Vas-Diass 20th in the 13 Years 50m breaststroke.

Grace swimmers Macey Lawler, Alia Shaw and Olivia Smith will be going to the Age Nationals on the Gold Coast in April, with several other club colleagues close to qualifying.
