State success for Grace swimmers

Grace swimmers took on the best in Queensland at the weekend – returning with four medals and 30 personal bests.

The Rothwell-based club finished 51st out of 128 competing clubs at the Queensland Short Course Championships.

Grace’s 13 swimmers, in a championship entry of 1648, also had 14 top 10 finishes at the three-day event at Chandler.

Max Cunningham took silver medals in the 13 Year Boys’ 100m freestyle and butterfly as well as bronze medals in the 50m freestyle and butterfly.

Here were top 10 finishes by Macey Lawler, seventh in the 13 Year Girls’ 50m backstroke and Elailah Rodd, 10th in the 13 Year Girls’ 100m individual medley (IM).

Alia Shaw was seventh in the 13 Year Girls’ 400m freestyle and Lily Smith, seventh 17 year Girls’ 200m backstroke, ninth 100m backstroke and 10th 100m freestyle.

Olivia Smith was ninth in the 14 Year Girls 100m IM, seventh 50m freestyle, sixth 200m freestyle, eighth 100m freestyle, 10th 100m butterfly and seventh 200m IM.

Grace Head Coach Chris Phillips and coach Josh Duyzer were supporting the team at the championships.
