Store opens with 101 new jobs

Coles Caboolture Big Fish has opened its doors for the first time creating 101 new jobs in our region.

The new supermarket and a Liquorland shop, on Pumicestone Rd, had their first customers on Friday.

Twenty-three Indigenous team members, from Coles’ Indigenous pre-employment training program, were also welcomed and will be mentored in their first six months’ employment.

Coles Caboolture comes with 216 solar panels, energy-efficient fridges throughout the store and a partnership with food rescue organisation SecondBite.

Caboolture Store Manager Anthony Hauser, a Coles team member of almost 30 years, said he was excited to be leading the new supermarket team.

“Nearly three decades ago, I started out at Coles collecting trolleys and I am proud to help open a brand-new store in Caboolture,” he said.

“It’s been rewarding to be able to provide more than 100 new jobs with 27 transferring from other stores to join the team.

“The community have already been incredibly welcoming, and the team are excited to open the doors and welcome local customers in.”

Features of the new store include enabling customers to squeeze their own orange juice and slice bread. There is a frozen desert bar and the store will have a self-serve pet treat bar.

Coles Online Click&Collect is available for residents to order groceries online and pick them up. Coles Online Home Delivery started today.

Coles Caboolture has supported community groups, including Beerburrum State School with $5000 to set up a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program, to encourage students to adopt healthy eating habits.

Food rescue organisation SecondBite who will get unsold edible food from Coles Caboolture Big Fish through Caboolture Community Care to feed locals facing food insecurity.

Caboolture Little Athletics received a $2500 donation for new equipment and the store will donate boxes of bananas to the centre for its little athletes.

Guide Dogs Australia will have an in-store coin Collection Dog to raise funds for Australians with low vision or blindness.

Coles Caboolture Big Fish is at 459 Pumicestone Road and open 7am–9pm Monday to Saturday and 9am–6pm Sunday.
