Suburbs set for splash of art

Unitywater’s Community Art Program will makeover two Moreton Bay assets this month.
A roadside cabinet at Bongaree foreshore and pump station on Francis Rd in Bray Park would be used to showcase artists’ talent.
“These assets are essential pieces of infrastructure that enable us to provide safe, reliable water and wastewater services,” Executive Manager Strategic Engagement Joshua Zugajev said.
“But they also offer a wonderful way of sharing what makes our region unique, improving the aesthetic of our assets, preventing graffiti - and they’re a great conversation starter,”
Wildlife Scientist and Moreton Bay resident Jayda Bruce will harness her passion for animals and art on the Bongaree roadside cabinet on Welsby Pde.
“I’m very excited to begin painting the mural,” Ms Bruce said.
“My design concept grew out of a collaborative project with Bribie Island Environmental Protection Association where we’ve been exploring the diverse wildlife that inhabits Bribie Island.
“The mural will highlight some lesser-known mammal species many people may not realise live in this area to raise awareness about their significance and the need to protect them.”
A red brick pump station on Francis Rd, Bray Park will see artist Dan Krause transform the structure into a fusion of vibrant colour and native creatures inspired by the natural beauty of the area.
