Swag of award nominations for Southern Cross Catholic College staff

More than a dozen Southern Cross Catholic College staff were nominated for awards as part of Catholic Education Week last month.

Nominations in the Spirit of Catholic Education Award and Brisbane Catholic Education Excellence in Teaching awards recognised the dedication of teachers and support staff at the college’s Woody Point, Kippa-Ring and Scarborough secondary and primary campuses.

Head of Kippa-Ring campus Simon Mahaffy, prep teacher Carla McKennariey and Head of Woody Point campus Aynslee Bale were nominated for the Spirit of Catholic Education Award, which attracts nominations from across Queensland.

Simon says the Spirit of Catholic Education Awards are presented annually in conjunction with Catholic Education Week and celebrate outstanding contributions to Catholic education in Queensland.

“From 160 nominations across the state and only eight in Brisbane, to have two from Kippa-Ring campus is an outstanding effort,” he says.

Southern Cross teachers and school officers make a difference each day and we see that with our learning data showing our students’ learning growth higher than the Australian average.”
