Teenager faces hooning charges

Moreton South Highway Patrol has seized a Ford Falcon and charged an 18-year-old man following alleged hooning offences in Warner last month.

Police allege the driver of the Ford Falcon was seen doing a burnout on Gum St shortly after 5pm on June 20.

They also allege the same vehicle was seen hooning near a shopping complex on Samsonvale Rd on June 25.

The man was found at a Warner address on June 27 and issued a notice to appear in relation to wilfully make unnecessary noise or smoke and driving whilst disqualified or restricted.

He is due to appear before Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on July 24.

The Type 1 offence also resulted in the Commodore being subject to a 90-day vehicle immobilisation.

Senior Sergeant Brett Stevenson from Moreton South Highway Patrol said police won’t tolerate hooning behaviour.

“Intentionally driving in a dangerous manner on public roads puts lives at risk," he said.

“If you are caught engaging in high-risk activities on our roads, you will face the consequences.

“Police continue to use a variety of intelligence and enforcement methods to target hooning and ensure Moreton roadways are safe for all road users.

“We encourage anyone who witnesses hooning or any type of dangerous driving to report it to police.”
