The ultimate arty party

Redcliffe’s Pinot & Picasso puts the emphasis on making art fun.

Business partners Katrina Humphries and Debbie Lennon say paint and sip sessions at the bright and airy studio with stunning seaside views are the perfect way to connect with your inner creative.

Since opening the venue overlooking Moreton Bay in 2021, their artistic team has welcomed thousands of artists to create pieces to be proud of.

“A lot of adults haven’t done art since they left high school - I had never done paint and sip before I bought this business,” Katrina laughs.

She says it’s fascinating to see the varied results from 25 people, who are all given the same instructions to create the same painting during each session.

“Some use different colours, some add their own touches - we have a class called Fresh Kicks and instead of painting a Nike shoe someone did a Croc,” Katrina laughs.

Creative vibes

Debbie says she and Katrina wanted to continue working together in a creative environment after Katrina sold her children’s pamper party venue at North Lakes.

“We have a background in children’s parties – we wanted to continue doing something together,” Debbie, who managed the previous venue, says.

“We get people saying they can’t paint and then they surprise themselves with what they come up with – it’s a sense of achievement - it unleashes their inner Picasso.”

Katrina says the team who guides guests through each workshop are not just talented local artists – they are also entertaining hosts who crank up the music in sessions to boost the creative vibe.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own beverages and nibbles and to treat each session like an arty party.

Fun art

Most sessions are 18+, but for family friendly school holiday sessions all the artists have Blue Cards and parents are welcome to drop kids off and head to a nearby café or bar or explore the area.

“Some of our artists are also teachers, but these sessions for kids are not like school – they’re meant to be fun,” Katrina says.

Pinot & Picasso hosts kids’ parties, family friendly sessions, adults’ parties, hens’ nights and school holiday workshops, with an array of paintings to choose from.

“We get people of all ages – the oldest person so far was an 86-year-old for her birthday,” Katrina says.

There’s even a neon room, where painters start with the lights on to create the base of their work before switching things up by flicking on ultra-violet lights to make their really pictures pop.

Pinot & Picasso is at Shop 3/13 Redcliffe Pde, Redcliffe.
