Tori has her sights set on screen
Samford’s Tori Webb has not let the challenges posed by COVID-19 put pause on her acting career, and her persistence is paying off.
Social distancing and lockdown may have changed the way she kept honing her craft, but Tori says she has still been training and evolving as a performer.
“I have a lot of exciting things coming up,” she says.
“It’s been a quiet year, so it’s super exciting that the industry is picking up.
“All my classes still happened – they went to Zoom, so I never stopped.”
Back on set
Now though, with restrictions easing, Tori is looking forward to getting back in front of the camera and building on her list of credits, which includes roles in Dora & the Lost City of Gold and Paramount feature film Love and Monsters.
She’s landed a part in the Dwayne Johnson TV series Young Rock, which is being filmed around south-east Queensland and chronicles his formative years.
“I’m starting a little role in Dwayne Johnson’s Young Rock. It’s just a tiny role, but it will be a US TV series,” she says.
Tori says she is looking forward to a bigger role in Perfect Messy Love, a rom-com web series being filmed on the Sunshine Coast.
She plays the lead role of Emily, an English author who swaps her London flat for an Aussie beach house in the series, which is due to launch in time for Christmas.
“It will make people smile,” she says of the series.
LA training
She’s grateful she had the chance to train in America last year, attending classes at Stella Adler and Second City, which trained the likes of Steve Carrell, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.
“Being in LA and doing it all, it was so much fun.”
Tori found her passion for acting as a student at Ferny Grove State High School and says she loves returning to her family home at Samford in between roles.
“It’s nice and quiet, it’s a really nice area.”
