Upgrade delivers eight ‘ACE’ netball courts

A $1.71 million upgrade has been completed to eight netball courts at South Pine Sports Complex in Brendale.

The ACE netball club courts, which have improved drainage and added supporting infrastructure, were officially opened on Saturday.

The site is now more accessible and resilient in wet weather, while new facilities including benches and water bubblers have also been added.

A ditch between the clubhouse and courts has been levelled out and asphalted, making the courts accessible to players, coaches, officials and spectators of all ages and abilities.

ACE Netball President Elizabeth Bettridge said the upgrades have made courts safer, accessible and more enjoyable to play on.

“Our club is growing every year, and these new courts ensure we can continue to give our members the facilities they deserve,” Ms Bettridge said.

“We appreciate Council’s investment into our netball community - it’s a real game changer for our whole club and netball in Moreton Bay.”

Mayor Peter Flannery said the upgraded courts were a major investment in local sport and the future of netball.

“By investing in safer, more accessible courts, we’re strengthening grassroots sports and ensuring our netball community has the quality infrastructure it deserves for decades to come,” he said.

“The improvements are about supporting the thousands of members and their families who rely on facilities like this each week.”

Councillor Cath Tonks (Div 9) added: “ACE Netball Club now has a fit-for-purpose, accessible and safe space designed to grow with the club.

“The additional seating and even playing surface means the new courts remove barriers that previously limited movement, making it safer, functional and inclusive for all players, officials and spectators.”
