Residents in Mango Hill were up well before dawn today to celebrate the completion of a new ring road.

At 4.15am the new $6.8 million Lamington Rd to Capestone connection across Anzac Ave was officially unveiled.

It capped a Mango Hill Progress Association (MHPA) campaign, which started in 2013, to relieve traffic and have a second exit from the Village.

In the dark, MHPA members Paul Buchanan, Laurence Christie, Debbie and Cassie Garth and Helen Wright were waved across the new road by a Council officer.

“MHPA appreciates the efforts of Council's road construction team who have met the many challenges placed on them to finalize this project,” President Laurence Christie said.

He also thanked Councillor Jodie Shipway (Div 4) who has “championed this essential link between Capestone to the Mango Hill Village to relieve traffic congestion”.

“Well done to all involved,” Mr Christie said.

Main construction on the new 165m two-lane road started in October 2023. It also has pathways, cycle lanes and a pedestrian crossing.

When work started Mr Christie said: “This is a milestone for the area and we are pleased to see these much-needed changes happening to ensure our area continues to grow sustainably and traffic flow does not become an issue.”

MHPA is planning to mark the official unveiling of the new Mango Hill Village entry sign on Monday.
