Work begins on $8m ambulance station

Construction has started on the new $8.45m Morayfield Ambulance Station.

The 10-bay station, at 396 Morayfield Road, will service the area’s fast-growing suburbs and help improve response times.

It will include an office, write up space, charge area, amenities, breakout and locker rooms, multi-function rest/study/training rooms, and a patient care storeroom.

The vehicle plant room will also have a storage area and carport for another five non-acute QAS vehicles.

Completion is expected by early 2024, weather permitting.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) Metro North Region Assistant Commissioner Tony Armstrong said it would have 17 paramedics.

“I can’t wait to see them operating out of this new station once it becomes active,” he said.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Yvette D’Ath said as the demand for health care rises investment such as this was essential.

“Not only will this new ambulance station provide greater access to healthcare for the community, it will mean our paramedics have a world-class facility from which to work,” the Minister said.

State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said: “Ambulance officers are a valued, key component of Queensland’s frontline health team.

“This new facility will allow them to get on with the job of saving lives, it’s a fantastic result for our region.”
