Work begins at new centre

Construction has officially started on a new 150-place childcare centre and swim school in Morayfield.

The centre, at Morayfield Marketplace on Oakey Flat Rd, is set to open early next year.

There are also 80 residential lots in a project forecast to create around 400 construction and 60 permanent jobs.

Adam Pennisi, from the developer Adpen, says: “Investment in childcare infrastructure is crucial to support working parents and ensure the welfare of children in the rapidly growing Moreton Bay region.

“Even in urban areas like South-East Queensland (SEQ), more than 30 per cent of residents face challenges accessing childcare services, hindering workforce participation and early childhood education.

“Childcare plays a vital role in bridging socioeconomic gaps and facilitating workforce participation, providing families with the freedom to engage in paid employment.

“Moreover, it serves as a foundation for early learning, shaping lifelong opportunities for children.”

Mr Pennisi says childcare centres in the region are operating at “full capacity” with another 8000 new homes in the pipeline for that area.

Adpen’s Beckett Place project, in Bridgeman Downs, will also include a new 100-place childcare centre, the third in SEQ for the developer.
