Work starts on new shopping centre

Construction is officially underway at a new shopping centre in one of Moreton bay’s fastest-growing areas.

The first sod was turned this week by Oxmar Properties on Narangba Heights Shopping Centre, at the corner of Oakey Flat Rd and Sovereign Drive.

Stage One will feature a full-line Coles supermarket, specialty retail, dining precincts, commercial tenancies and a service station.

Future stages are planned to have additional retail, childcare, health and wellness offerings.

Oxmar Properties Director Phil Murphy said the development had been planned to reflect the needs and character of the local community.

“A lot of time and effort has gone into getting this far along the road and today we are very excited for this huge milestone,” he said.

“Our heart is to create a meeting place for people to come together as a community in a quality estate that our residents call ‘Home’.”

Evolve Constructions CEO Andrew Pyne said the project was “an important milestone”.

"It represents the point where a great deal of planning, collaboration and hard work begins to take shape on site,” he said.

“More importantly, it's the beginning of a project that will become part of the fabric of this growing community for many years to come."

The sod-turning ceremony was attended by key stakeholders including Oxmar Properties, Evolve Constructions, MJF Projects, Coles, McDonald’s, V Architecture and Handler Property.
