Work to start on 117 new homes

More than 100 new homes are to be built on 1.5 hectares just across the road from Mango Hill train station.

The State Government has announced Coast2Bay and Azure Development Group will provide a mix of housing on the land.

Coast2Bay will deliver 56 homes comprising one, two and three-bedroom apartments eligible for affordable housing.

The development will also include a single five-storey complex as well as a communal indoor/outdoor space.

Azure Development Group will build 61 three and four-bedroom townhouses on the site which has been declared a Provisional Priority Development Area.

The move comes under the State’s Land Activation Program which unlocks under-utilised government-owned land by partnering with the private sector.

Since launching the program in February, more than 30 hectares has been released to market with another 3000 hectares of potential sites under assessment.

It was announced in February the Mango Hill land would be activated, though the “additional 250 homes” is now 117.

“This Mango Hill site is the perfect place to call home,” Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie said.

“By releasing unused state land to the market and partnering with industry that builds new homes, we are unlocking opportunities for more Queenslanders to have a place to call home.”

Azure Founder Chris Schroor said the site “carries all of the attributes that we look for in developing our communities”.

“It is close to public transport with the rail station across the road, is surrounded by retail amenity and job creation, and a multitude of education options,” Mr Schroor said.

Coast2Bay CEO Andrew Elvin added: “This development is not only about delivering more homes, but also helping people build brighter futures.

“These homes will provide affordable rental options for essential workers and local residents, enabling them to live closer to employment, schools, services and everyday amenities.”
