Work to start on $2 million road upgrade at Clontarf

The State Government is investing more than $2 million in resurfacing works at Hornibrook Esp, Clontarf.

State Member for Redcliffe Yvette D’Ath says the work will “deliver an improved stretch of road, from Angus St through to Thompson Cres”.

“Crews will be on site from early July, and I ask drivers to pay attention to the changed conditions during construction,” Ms D’Ath says.

“This project is thanks to the Palaszczuk Government’s record $27.5 billion road and transport plan, creating 24,000 jobs.

"Hornibrook Esp is a busy urban-arterial road and the new surface will be welcomed by the 27,000 motorists who travel this section every day.

“Due to the heavy day traffic, works will be undertaken at night from Sunday to Thursday between 6pm and 5am. The project will take around four weeks, weather and construction conditions permitting.

"Every effort will be made to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum, however we do acknowledge residents and businesses will be temporarily inconvenienced. We thank the community in advance for their cooperation and patience."

Ms D’Ath says temporary lane closures, traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and road signs would be in place to ensure road worker and motorist safety.

"It is vital motorists observe all signs when approaching the roadworks and adapt their driving to the changed conditions," she says.

Previously undertaken works at Hornibrook Esp include the $690,000 completed signalised pedestrian crossing, near the Seavue Apartments, in April 2019.

Other works in Redcliffe include more than $5 million in upgrades for five intersections on Anzac and Oxley avenues.
