Work is officially underway at a $67 million retail and lifestyle centre in Moreton Bay, creating hundreds of jobs during construction and on completion.
A sod turn was held today for the Moreton Lifestyle Centre, at 463 Anzac Ave, Rothwell, with developers CapPru, joined by project partners, government representatives and stakeholders.
The retail and lifestyle precinct, being built by Deluca, will transform a prominent 3.7-hectare site which also fronts Buchanan St.
Major commitments have already been secured from retail tenants such as Banjo’s, BP, KFC and Automasters, as well as wellness gyms.
Jarrad Haynes, Managing Director of CapPru, said it reflected confidence in the Rothwell retail corridor as well as future growth and economic strength of City of Moreton Bay.
“This development has been carefully planned to meet the needs of a rapidly growing community which has a projected additional 77,000 residents set for in the North Lakes–Redcliffe corridor by 2046,” he said.
“Moreton Lifestyle Centre will deliver a high-quality retail and lifestyle destination that provides convenience, choice and employment opportunities close to home.
“The strong interest we’ve received from national retailers reinforces the demand for a centre of this calibre in Brisbane’s growing northern corridor.”
“We look forward to announcing additional tenant pre-commitments shortly,” he said.
Nic De Luca, Managing Director of Deluca, is pleased to officially start construction on “a significant project for City of Moreton Bay”.
“We anticipate up to 120 people working on site when we are fully up and running with more long-term employment opportunities once the centre becomes operational,” Nic said.
Leasing is being managed by Colliers and KD Special Projects and negotiations are underway with national and regional retailers across homemaker, fitness, automotive, electrical, pet care and outdoor recreation sectors.
