Located on the Bald Hills flats along the banks of the South Pine River, Pine Rivers Park is one of the Strathpine region's most popular public recreation spaces. Pine Rivers Park is a destination that anyone will appreciate, with large open grassy fields, shaded picnic areas and a number of wild water birds.
For the big kids there's a flying fox and a climbing frame nestled among the mature Norfolk Pine trees, and a garden maze surrounded by a pedal train track. In the completely fenced and tree-shaded playground are slides and swings, which will keep the little kids busy and a covered table and benches mean that mum can sit and talk and still keep an eye on the activities. Toddlers aren't forgotten either with a dedicated playground, complete with toddler-height activities, sandpit and swings set behind a fence and softfall.
Pine Rivers Park is a popular park for kids birthday parties and family gatherings, thanks to plenty of nearby parking space, toilet amenities, barbecues and vast open green spaces. Kids parties are especially fun at Pine River Park, imagine your little super hero’s flying down the flying fox, climbing the spider webs or playing a game of ‘red rover’ on the grassy flats. It is a good idea to head down early if you want to use the picnic shelters or BBQ areas of the parks as they are very popular and will be snapped up early.
There are no shops within walking distance of the park, so come prepared with snacks; there are water bubblers if drink bottles are empty.
Unknown by most, including the locals, is the Pine Rivers Disc Golf Course located within the park. This nine hole Disc Golf Course wraps around the main playground and lake area of the park, nestled in the trees for that extra challenge!
The Rules of Disc Golf are similar to traditional golf, you’re just using a frisbee instead of a tee and ball!
Pine Rivers Park provides an opportunity for travelers to connect with nature in addition to the variety of playgrounds and leisure areas. Pathways and walking routes weave through natural vegetation, wrapping small lakes with fish, tadpoles and wild water birds. You may even spot a few chicks out on the lake under the watchful eye of their mothers.
