About Wyllie Park | Petrie

Tucked between the railway line and Gympie Road, Wyllie Park is a delightful location to host a picnic catch-up or enjoy a stroll along the North Pine River.

Playground and nature play

Conveniently situated under a shady tree, the playground at Wyllie Park offers a respite from the midday sun. With swings, slide and climbing equipment, this park is ideal for toddlers and early primary school aged children. Yearning to reconnect with nature? Not only does Wyllie Park have play equipment, it is home to many beautiful trees. Children can collect sticks, flowers, pinecones and climb around these majestic trees.

These trees are also home to many different birds in the region, you might just catch a glimpse of a baby magpie being instructed by its parents during October and November months. If looking to indulge in some water activities, you need to cross the bridge and head to Leis Park on the other side of the North Pine River. Wyllie Park has no direct, safe access to the river bank.

Bring a picnic

With its shady canopies, toilets and ample car parking, Wyllie is a lovely spot to have a picnic. You can fry up a sausage sizzle on the park BBQ or just enjoy a cold luncheon of sandwiches. Looking to grab some takeaway? Wyllie Park is a short walking distance from the Petrie round-a-bout, home to a number of takeaway stores, a butcher and a grocery store.

Network of parks ideal for walkers and cyclists

Wyllie Park is part of a larger network of parks along the northern and southern banks of the North Pine River. Walkers can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the pathways taking in the flora and fauna that thrives along the rivers banks. Wyllie Park also hosts several exercise stations that walkers can take advantage of to increase their cardiovascular workout during their walk and leashed dogs are most welcome. Aside from walking, these walkways are great for cyclists, particularly families looking to get kids out of the house and experiencing everything the local area has to offer.
