$1 million upgrade officially open

New sheltered tiered seating and a view area have been officially opened at Kinsellas Sports Complex, the home of North Lakes United.

The $1-million upgrade was completed by Moreton Bay City Council, with funding support from State Government’s South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program.

“The Moreton Bay community thrives on an active lifestyle and cheering on our local teams is a key part of that,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“Whether you’re a family, friend or fan, the revitalisation of Kinsellas Sports Complex opens up more opportunity for everyone to participate.

“In one of the fastest growing regions in Australia, and with the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics approaching, it’s imperative our city continues to invest in infrastructure that supports our sporting community.

“Who knows, we might even see the next Cortnee Vine (Matildas star who lived at Mango Hill and played for Peninsula Power) representing Australia on home soil.”

Deputy Mayor Jodie Shipway (Div 4) said the revamp of Kinsellas Sports Complex is something families, clubs and volunteers will be cheering about.

“I'm a sport-loving mum of two boys who both play locally, so I know how important it is to have this kind of infrastructure,” she said.

“The new sheltered tiered seating and viewing deck provides families, fans and large crowds a more comfortable and accessible way to move about the facility and cheer on from the sidelines.

“The adjoining ramp has also created a safer, more efficient access point for volunteers to transfer equipment from storage sheds to the playing fields.

“I hope this investment into amazing sporting facilities like this attracts more interest in local football.”
