$2 million funding boost for Hub

Plans for a new Samford Village Green community area have received a $2.2 million boost.

Funding from the Australian Government's Thriving Suburbs Program is being matched by City of Moreton Bay for the project in Samford Parklands.

Construction of the new “beating heart of Samford” is expected to start mid this year and be finished in late 2026.

“The new Samford Village Green will provide an event-ready and recreational outdoor community space to further support community connection, liveability and accessibility,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“It will not only complement the already vibrant cultural and social environment of the Samford community but also create local jobs during construction and drive economic growth in one of our City’s most cherished recreational areas.

“This funding underscores the importance of our City as a thriving hub of growth and opportunity in South East Queensland.

Councillor Darren Grimwade (Div 11) believes the hub will be a “perfect meeting point for visitors and locals alike”.

“The space will be enhanced with a large lawn for big gatherings, BBQ and picnic facilities, play equipment for children and landscaped gardens with shade trees,” he said

Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King said community facilities and parks are vital for connected and thriving communities.

“This investment will transform Samford and its surrounding communities by enriching quality of life, enhancing social inclusion, and strengthening connections,” she said.
