Alt-rockers gear up to perform

Moreton Bay's alt-rockers, The Phosphenes, are set to bring a grunge, homegrown sound to Where We Belong Festival 2026.

Hailing from Caboolture and now based in Burpengary, Reece Depasquale (lead guitarist and vocalist), Toby Vinton (drummer) and Rosie Bowman (bassist) are about to share the same stage as The Screaming Jets.

“Playing with The Screaming Jets in our own backyard is incredible and not something we would ever have imagined could happen to us!”

The band are excited to play their latest single release, DYV, live for audiences of all ages this Saturday after the track has been played on radio stations and online streaming platforms across the world.

For the band, one of the biggest highlights of Where We Belong festival is its all-ages focus.

“It’s so awesome to have a place where people from all ages can show up. Live music is all about community,” Rosie said.

They said the festival gives young people the chance to experience live music in a safe, welcoming environment, while also opening doors for emerging artists to perform in front of bigger crowds.

“With the collapse of so many festivals around Australia it’s an incredible chance to create a tightly knit music community in Moreton Bay.”

The Phosphenes have previously performed at Tribe Clubhouse, an inclusive community hub creating opportunities for young people. 

“Tribe was one of the first venues we ever played as a band. They took on a group of teenagers and gave us the platform to share our music,” Reece said.

After Where We Belong festival, The Phosphenes have got shows lined up at Nambour, The Valley & Broadbeach in Queensland are then hitting Newcastle, Sydney and Wollongong.
