Budding young actors from Redcliffe Musical Theatre’s ROAR Academy will head to Brisbane next month where they will present their own enchanting version of Disney’s Frozen Jr at the Twelfth Night Theatre in Bowen Hills.

This will be the first time the theatre group has performed a junior production outside of Redcliffe, with six shows planned during the school holidays from December 8-10.

Following sold-out performances earlier this year, Redcliffe Musical Theatre Principal Madeleine Johns said the cast was excited to bring the main characters Elsa and Anna back to life.

“We performed Frozen Jr at the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre back in February and it was a huge success – every show was sold out,” Madeleine said.

“We decided it would be a good idea to bring the stage show to Brisbane and let new audiences share in the magic with our talented cast.

“This is the first time we have performed a junior show outside of our theatre and the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre.

“All of the kids are really excited about performing in Brisbane. They are rehearsing again, but since they have done this show before they know what they are doing and know all the songs and the dialogue.

“We are just making those small improvements that will make it a better experience for the audience.”

Taking to the stage will be ROAR Academy regular Anthony Van Stam who will perform the role of the machinating Prince Hans, alternating with Miguel Gambley.

Anthony has been accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium for Classical Voice, while Miguel was chosen last year to be one of the recording voices in Dot and the Kangaroo Jr – which is due to be released this year.

Abbie Gommers and Tessa Parrish will share the role of Elsa, and Zoe Hitchcock and Sienna Randall will share the lead role of Anna.

Leo Chick will take on the role of Olaf.

They will be joined on stage by Toby Bailey, Lucas Van Stam, Benjamin Rimes, Tiarna Douglas, Ella Western-Dyer, Theo Hunt, Benjamin O'Regan-Lambert, Tylah-Jay Foster and Rory Argles, who are just some of the amazing youths who make up this family friendly production.

A magical experience for young and old

Frozen Jr is based on the 2018 Broadway musical and brings Elsa, Anna, Hans, Kristoff, Sven, Olaf and the magical land of Arendelle to life onstage.

Audiences will be able to sing along to hit songs such as Do You Want To Build a Snowman, Fixer Upper, Love is an Open Door and Let it Go.

“One of my favourite songs in the musical is Let it Go because it has such a beautiful score,” Madeleine said.

Being a heartwarming story about sisterhood, true love, acceptance, magic and humour, Frozen Jr is sure to delight audiences young and old.

Madeleine is hoping Brisbane residents will snap up tickets to come and see the show.

“Junior theatre is underrated because people think they are going to see a school production, but it is much more than that,” Madeleine said.

“What they will see is a show just as good as that the Redcliffe Musical Theatre puts on.

“These young kids are our next level performers who are waiting to go into training, and they are all extremely passionate about what they do.

“Many of them are already at a professional level, like Anthony and Miguel.

“Give it a go - it’s a high-quality show that is lots of fun.”
