Braza put Moreton Bay in top tier

Braza will take Moreton Bay and north Brisbane back into the top level of Queensland’s futsal competition this weekend.

Based and training at South Pine Sports Complex in Brendale, Braza is the only northside team granted an F-League licence this year.

On Sunday, they debut in the State’s top men’s Futsal tier at Nambour Christian College against Sunshine Coast Wave in Round One of the 2026 season.

Completing the eight-team F-League are Crusaders, Gold Coast Force, Ipswich, River City, Sala Time and South Brisbane Fury. Venues include Chandler and Nissan Arena.

Braza’s home matches will be played at Morayfield Sports Centre, until South Pine Sports Complex has the required markings.

A team spokesman said: “It is expected home games will be at Brendale eventually once international court markings are there.”

Braza are managed by Fabio Barbosa, a former Brazilian national team, Queensland and Elitefoot F League player.

Alongside will be Guilherme Santinelli, a former Elitefoot Premiership player and Dan Romano, a current Queensland and former F League Elitefoot player.

Among the players to watch is teenager Reid Baldwin who played for Elitefoot Men’s as a 14 year old and was Elitefoot’s leading goalscorer in F League last year.

He was in the Queensland State Secondary Schools (16 years) Merit team in 2024 and 2025.

F-League is administered by Football Queensland and has provided players to the National teams (Futsalroos) in recent years.

Braza applied for a licence and met the criteria, filling a futsal void in north Brisbane. Elitefoot and Galaxy were not granted a licence.

Braza played in FQ Winter League which was a springboard for its application to join the F-League, from which there is no relegation.

The club also fields teams for players aged from five to 16 and women.

Futsal is the indoor version of football for teams of five, one being a goalkeeper, with unlimited substitutions.
