Bridge frames to arrive at night

Giant steel frames for the $19 million Elizabeth Ave pedestrian overpass are about arrive at the Clontarf site.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) says work installing frames for the western ramps is due to start mid-July.

Frames will on an oversized load, which the permit says must arrive between 2am-6am on one night to minimise disruption on the road.

Otherwise, work is expected to be from 7am-5pm, Monday to Friday. Occasion weekend work may be required.

Residents near the site will be notified once the construction schedule is finalised. Work is expected to last eight weeks.

Truck movements with part lane closures are expected; noise, vibration and dust are possible; there will also be an exclusion zone around the site.

Traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and road signage will be in place for changed road conditions and safety. Priority access will be given to emergency vehicles.

Residents must observe signage and traffic controller directions while the steel frames are being installed.

TMR says every effort will be made to keep disruptions and noise to a minimum while the works are underway.
