Update: Bruce Highway closed after multi-vehicle crash
A man in his 30s has been taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital after a crane rolled over on the Gateway Motorway at Bracken Ridge.
Motorists face long delays northbound on the Bruce Highway after the crash about 8.40am today.
Queensland Ambulance Service senior operations supervisor Glen Morrison says the sole occupant of the crane sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident, which has blocked all northbound lanes.
“There was a very large crane that was blocking all northbound lanes of the Gateway Motorway, on its side with the occupant still inside the cabin,” Glen says.
“The gentleman received significant care from our High Acuity Response Unit, who stabilised the patient with the assistance of the Fire Service, who were able to safely extricate the patient out of the crane.”
The man remains in hospital in a serious condition with head, spinal and pelvic injuries.
