Moreton Bay winners in State Budget

A raft of major projects in the Moreton Bay region have received funding in today's State Government Budget 2025-26.

A new Moreton Bay TAFE Centre of Excellence at Petrie gets $60 million and Moreton Bay Wildlife Hospital and Education Hub in Dakabin $15 million.

There's $15 million for a paediatric outpatients area at Caboolture Hospital and funding for high dependency mental health beds, seclusion room and courtyard.

Redcliffe Hospital will be expanded to “at least 210 new overnight beds” and there’s a commitment to “additional car parking spaces”.

Also in the Budget is a commitment to a new special school in Moreton Bay South and raising the Metro North health workforce to 21,681. 

Other Budget commitments include:

• $70.4 million to “expand and improve social and community housing” in Moreton Bay
• $35 million to partner with local government on stormwater infrastructure to stop litter entering Moreton Bay
• $9.6 million for specialist classrooms at Pine Rivers State High School
• $3.75 million on a new SES depot at Deception Bay, with Moreton Bay City Council
• $4.7 million for upgrades to Bribie Island Neighbourhood Centre
• $2.1 million towards PCYC Pine Rivers upgrades
• $600,000 for upgrades to Albany Creek Library court yard
• $500,000 to upgrade Clayton Playground, Beachmere.
• $300,000 goes to Moreton Bay Meals on Wheels
• $100,000 to University of the 3^rd Age (U3A) Bribie Island for a new home
• $3.1 million to Dickson Men’s Shed and Stationery Aid for new facilities at Bunya.
• $21.6 million “total spend” for a new Petrie substation
• $1.4 million replacing Delaneys Creek Rural Fire Station
• $2.1 million for Redcliffe Area Youth Space to build a specialist program with Council
• $920,000 to expand Bribie Island Strength and Movement Club
• $500,000 for internal and external paintwork at Dayboro Scouts Hall
• $500,000 on a drop-off pick-up area and car park at Eatons Hill State School
• $150,000 for Miracle Mums to help women affected by domestic violence in Redcliffe and Moreton Bay
• $170,500 to resurface courts at Bribie Island Netball Club
• $153,000 lighting upgrades at for Beachmere Rugby League
• $200,000 to design female changing rooms at Redcliffe Tigers AFL
• $33,000 to upgrade electric Wood-Mizer at Redcliffe and District Woodcrafters Society

Other Budget commitments include “delivering a new Bribie Island Bridge”, which is in the planning stage and an on-demand bus service trial for Bribie Island.

Also, D’Aguilar Highway intersection upgrades at George St, Raaen Rd, Mt Mee Rd and Campbells Pocket Rd.

And the new Youth Detention Centre at Woodford Correctional Precinct, accommodation for Years 11 and 12 at Woodford State School.

Beyond our region, the Queensland Government’s 2025-26 Budget highlights 1600 new police recruits, 15 new schools, three new hospitals, upgrades for the Bruce Highway and a boost for new home buyers.
