Cactus Jack's Redcliffe open for business

Despite reports to the contrary, Cactus Jack’s Redcliffe is open for business. New owner Rob Griffiths says the menu and specials you know and love are here to stay.

His assurances follow a news story which said the restaurant had gone into liquidation, but later explained it had new owners, and a power outage on Sunday that prevented them from opening.

Rob says he and wife Kate bought the restaurant at Redcliffe Pde on June 18, and reopened it in line with the easing of government restrictions on that date.

“I worked for the company for two and half years as an operations manager for Brisbane and had the opportunity to buy the place,” he explains.

The sale was timed so staff could be looked after and there would be minimal disruption to customers.

Rob says the previous owners’ business had gone into voluntary liquidation and there is no risk to Cactus Jacks Redcliffe, now it had been sold.

Why did Rob and Kate buy the restaurant?

“We still have a lot of faith in the company and the brand and the area. It’s something that still excites us. We love Redcliffe and the thought of Cactus not reopening was pretty sad for us,”

Protecting the team was also a key consideration.

“It’s pretty hard to sit in our restaurant and look out and have a miserable day. It’s such a beautiful spot,” he says.

“The local support we’ve been getting has been amazing … a Sunday afternoon of us, 70 per cent of patrons we know by name. It’s a really welcoming feeling.

“You can go to work and be part of a small community that comes together, especially in these times.”

When is Cactus Jack’s open?

The restaurant is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for dinner and Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 11am.
