Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a teenage girl died in an alleged hit and run incident on the Redcliffe Peninsula last night.

Emergency services were called to Margate Pde, Margate, shortly before 11.30pm, following reports a vehicle had struck a 17-year-old girl.

It is alleged the vehicle fled the scene following the crash.

Police located the girl and performed CPR, but she was later declared deceased at the scene.

Police are appealing to anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area, including Mabel St and Margate Pde, around the time of the incident, to come forward. Investigations are continuing.
