Cameron’s message to Classic field
Cameron Smith, who was runner-up at last month’s US Masters, is hoping to see “some great results” in his junior classic at Wantima Country Club on Friday.
Entries have been flowing in for the fourth Cameron Smith Junior Classic (CSJC) at the Brendale course – but it will be the first without Cameron present.
The 27-year-old, who grew up in Bray Park and learned to play golf at Wantima, will be at his final event for 2020 - the QBE Shootout in Florida.

“I am so disappointed I will not be returning to Australia this year due to COVID,” said Cameron, who is now ranked 27th in the world.
“The 2020 edition of the Cameron Smith Junior Classic, hosted by Wantima Country Club, will again attract a full field.
“To all the players - play well, have lots of fun and I look forward to seeing photos and some great results!”
Classic idea
The Cameron Smith Junior Classic was the brainchild of long-time junior co-ordinator at Wantima Country Club, Ken McKay.
Ken said in Cameron’s absence his father Des, himself an accomplished golfer, is likely to help present awards.
The CSJC is open to boys and girls under 18 with a Golf Australia handicap and is the first qualifying event for the 2021 Greg Norman Junior Masters.
