Changes to major development plan

Plans for a new showroom, shop and food and drink outlet by Bribie Island bridge have changed.

Initial approval was given in 2022 for the development on 1713-1735 Bribie Island Rd and 1 Spinnaker Drive, Sandstone Point.

But, a new change application sought to reduce the number of buildings from four to three with a reconfiguration of the 8300sqm site.

The showroom – believed to be for a BCF store – has moved to the western end of the block with other retail outlets towards the middle.

Cr Brooke Savige (Div 1) told Moreton Bay City councillors it is a “complex area to work in” with access off Spinnaker Drive.

Challenging

It was acknowledged the showroom’s 66 park spaces was higher than at sites in City of Moreton Bay.

But concerns were raised over the positioning of a service area, close to a pool within the neighbouring units.

“This is incredibly challenging with a lot going on with very limited vehicle access points,” Cr Savige said.

“I do continue to hold concerns about the access, but they are not elements which can be addressed through this change application.”

The application was carried unanimously by the councillors.
