The countdown has started to another long weekend for Moreton Bay residents - the 2026 Ekka public holiday.

Monday August 10 will be Moreton Bay’s Ekka holiday, while for Brisbane residents it is Wednesday August 12.

This continues Moreton Bay City Council’s tradition of using the show holiday to create a long weekend for residents.

It is, of course, a chance to explore the region, check out the beaches, hinterland and Moreton Bay’s myriad of attractions.

One of the biggest drawcards will be the Caboolture Family Fun Day which has free rides and family fun.

The popular event, on Monday August 10 from 10am-4pm, is at a new location this year - Caboolture Showgrounds, on Beerburrum Rd.

Organisers say the showgrounds will be a “giant family playground” with unlimited free rides, live entertainment, face painting, show bags, market stalls and food trucks.

“Caboolture Family Fun Day is one of our City’s most popular community events, giving residents a chance to enjoy a low-cost day of rides, entertainment and activities,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“We know many households are feeling cost-of-living pressures and a day out can quickly become expensive.

“Events like this help bring our community together, giving families the chance to spend quality time together, make memories and enjoy everything City of Moreton Bay has to offer.”
