Enjoy Movie in the Park North Lakes

Enjoy an evening of fun and family friendly entertainment at Movie in the Park North Lakes on May 20.

The event, which will include the screening of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, is on from 4.30-7.30pm at Bounty Boulevard State School, North Lakes. Closed captions will be displayed during the screening. Entry is free.

Movie in the Park North Lakes will also include free face painting, a roving Sonic character and food trucks including Papagano Pizza, Jaz N Gaz Coffee, Charkor BBQ and the Ausbuild Community Sausage sizzle which will raise money for the school’s P&C.

Pack your picnic rugs and chairs and enjoy an evening under the stars. There will be plenty of movie treats available with popcorn and fairy floss available for purchase.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 brings back the world’s favourite blue hedgehog for a next-level adventure in which he is desperate to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero.

Make a night of it

Councillor Jodie Shipway (Div 4) says the colder nights are a great excuse to rug up and make a date with the family.

“Movie in the Park is a fantastic initiative to bring our community on the grounds of Bounty Boulevard State School for a fun and free family night out,” Cr Shipway says.

“We know the cost of living is starting to bite, so providing free community events like this are more important than ever to bring our community together and provide locals with affordable entertainment and recreation options.

“Sonic is a bit of nostalgia for the parents and a new adventure for the kids, so I can’t wait to see it. Especially with Jim Carrey as the villainous Doctor Eggman.

“So, mark Saturday, May 20 in your calendar and head down with your family, friends, and picnic blankets for a free night of local entertainment.”

Mayor Peter Flannery says Margate’s Movie in the Park proved to be the most popular event of 2022, with more than 800 people turning out.

“Let’s see if North Lakes can set a new record for 2023,” he says.

“Our 2022-23 Budget saw an enormous investment in events, following calls from locals for greater vibrancy with more festivals and activities in their suburbs and neighbourhoods.

“I’m thrilled to see locals turning out in record numbers and taking full advantage of these free events, and I’m proud to lead a Council so committed to providing free entertainment in our region at a time when so many are doing it tough.”

Movie in the Park North Lakes is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and strategic sponsors Moreton Alert, Ausbuild, UniSC, Brisbane Whale Watching, Village Motors and Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club and gold sponsors Sesame Lane Care and Kindergarten, State Member for Bancroft Chris Whiting and Crew Legal.
