Pelican Park in Clontarf will be a wheely great spot to admire lots of classic and muscle cars this month, with Peninsula Motorfest returning on July 23.

The event will take centre stage along the waterfront from 8am-3pm, with thousands of people expected to head along and admire the lineup of vehicles.

Organiser Aarash Almassi says the free event will have something for everyone.

“This isn’t just a car show for guys and their mates - this is a family-friendly day that adults and kids will love,” Aarash says.

“Some of the best care in the country will be there, as well as some very expensive cars.

“There will be modern V8s, classic cars, old school muscle cars, hot rods and motorcycles.”

In addition to the exquisite line up, there will also be plenty of giveaways and prizes, entertainment for the kids, live music, trade stands and food stalls.

“This is the third event we have held – we have done two events but then had to cancel 11 due to COVID and the weather,” Aarash says.

“At every event we try to do something different, which the public loves.”

If you have a car you would love to show off, all you need to do is head down on the day at 8am. No registration is necessary.

“If you’re a car person and you’re cruising up with three or four other people, if you turn up at the same time you can all park with each other,” Aarash says.

Giving back to the community

Aarash loves hosting events like this as it gives him an opportunity to give something back to the community.

“My dad used to give back to the community through sport, which is also something that is really important to me,” Aarash says.

“I started doing small car shows for charity, but then it came to a point where I wanted to do something bigger, so I went to Pelican Park and held the first Peninsula Motorfest.

“The first one was huge and the second one was even bigger.

“Each event just keeps getting bigger and better.”

While entry is free, a gold coin donation is appreciated, with all money raised from the day going to help a local not-for-profit organisation in Redcliffe called R.O.P.E Association. They provide support services to people living with intellectual disabilities.

“They are a great organisation to support, and by supporting local, I get to see where all the money goes,” Aarash says.

“I don’t make a single dollar out of these events – all the money goes to charity.”

The public can also support the charity by buying raffle tickets on the day.
