Club joins sports group stable
Caboolture Sports Club (CSC) has added a fourth licensed venue – Club Glass House – to its growing portfolio.
Club Glass House members have voted overwhelmingly to “approve the management committee finalising and entering into an agreement with Caboolture Sports Club Limited”.
It follows a letter, in which Club Glass House’s management committee warned: “The club has reached a critical point.”
“If Club Glass House does not secure immediate financial assistance, our club will not trade into the future.”
At special general meeting this month, the Club Glass House committee recommended a transfer of ownership due to financial challenges.
CSC Group and Club Glass House are now in the contractual phase. A definitive timeline for completion has not yet been established.
Club Glass House is set to join Caboolture Sports Club, Sports Central Caboolture and North Lakes Sports Club in the CSC Group.
“We thank the members of Club Glass House for placing their trust in Caboolture Sports Club,” CSC Group CEO Craig Thomas said.
"We are very excited about the future for Club Glass House. We will work with members to ensure the club continues to support the community and remains a meeting point for many."
CSC Group says it is "an opportunity to extend our commitment to providing venues and services that foster local connection, support sporting activities and promote community development".
Under the agreement, Caboolture Sports Club will:
- Assume liability for all current debts of Club Glass House
- All Club Glass House staff will retain their positions at the club
- Glass House Country Bowls Club will be provided with a long-term licence to remain at the club and to occupy the bowls rooms
- CSC will maintain and repair the bowling green
- CSC will invest in immediate improvements including sealing the Club Glass House carpark, improving lighting, providing new carpet and furniture.
“This is a very pleasing outcome because it ensures a club that has 50 years of history in this area will continue into the future,” Club Glass House President Gary Gray said.
“We’re very grateful to members who took the time to understand the situation and to vote on their preferred outcome.”
Caboolture Sports Club was founded in 1994 with six sporting groups – cricket, softball, touch football, soccer, rugby union and dog obedience – forming a single organisation.
More than three decades later Caboolture Sports Club donates about $2 million each year in cash and in-kind support back to the community.
