Council teams up with Culture Kings

Streetwear brand Culture Kings has teamed up with Moreton Bay Regional Council to refurbish the basketball court at Centenary Lakes, Caboolture.

Don’t miss the official opening this weekend from 10am-3pm. There will be a DJ, 3on3 competition, food stalls and activities with Culture Kings.

“This is a unique sponsorship arrangement with Culture Kings where the people of Caboolture have scored a slick upgrade to the Centenary Lakes basketball court,” Mayor Peter Flannery says.

|“They’ve funded the refurbishment of the court surface as well as new hoops and a new mural, while Council has pitched in for the new fencing and will continue to maintain the facility.|

“We’re committed to providing the people of Moreton Bay with state-of-the-art sports and recreation facilities and this sponsorship agreement is just one way we’re achieving that across the region.

“Over the past five Council budgets we’ve invested $161.8 million into upgrading and building new community sports and recreation facilities and there will be more to look forward to in the 2023-24 Budget when it’s announced this Friday June 16.”

More coming for Caboolture

Councillor Adam Hain (Div 3) says the launch event is just a taste of the benefits the community will reap from the court upgrade.

“I’ve said it time and time again, but Caboolture is the comeback kid of South East Queensland and this wonderful partnership with global streetwear brand Culture Kings is just another feather in the cap as we build a better future for our local residents,” he says.

“Thanks to our sponsorship agreement we’re able to generate some real buzz around Centenary Lakes and the Caboolture CBD with plenty of work planned to revamp the area over the coming years.

“This is a great quality public court for everyone to enjoy and it’s free to come down on Saturday to be part of the hype.”

The launch of the Centenary Lakes basketball court will be hosted by Culture Kings on Saturday June 17 from 10am. A 3on3 tournament will tip-off at 2pm, with major prizes awarded just before closing at 3pm.

Open to all ages and skill-levels, the free community event will also include a range of games for all ages, a shootout competition, prizes, giveaways, food and drinks, a DJ and much more.

The new basketball facilities can be found at Centenary Lakes, Riverview St, Caboolture, and are now open for public use.
