One of the people not have any symptoms and had only been tested because they had worked at DFO.
Dr Young says it appears the person was connected to the Portuguese restaurant, which has previously been listed as an exposure site, but has not been at the venue.
She says while genomic testing is still happening, she believes it is most likely the person has the Alfa variant.
The second person is their partner and had experienced symptoms.
Monitor the Queensland Health website for updates and possible exposure sites.
This takes the total of active cases to 40 in Queensland. More than 7300 people have been tested in the past 24 hours, and 10,000 have been vaccinated.
“If you’re eligible to get vaccinated, please go and get your vaccination. It’s absolutely critical,” Ms Palaszczuk says
She is also urging those due for their second vaccination, to make sure they have it.
School holiday plans
Ms Palaszczuk is pleading with Queenslanders not to go to New South Wales until the situation eases.
“If you’re holidaying in New South Wales at the moment, you should think about returning home. What is happening in New South Wales is very concerning. We haven’t seen the likes of this before because this is the highly contagious strain,” she says.
Restrictions tighten
From tomorrow, restrictions will tighten for the period of lockdown in Sydney. Venues will return to the one person per 2qm rule and there will be a limit of 100 people at home venues.
People who have been in declared hotspot zones in greater Sydney have been urged to come forward to testing and to isolate.
“You owe it to yourself, your family and your community to do the right thing over this two-week period,” she says.
Queensland Health will continue to monitor the evolving situation in New South Wales.

It comes as it was discovered a Virgin flight crew member has tested positive and worked on five flights on Friday and Saturday, while infectious.
Some of these flew into Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and it is believed Queenslanders were on board flights which flew into Sydney and Melbourne.
Contact tracing is underway and everyone deemed a close contact will have to be tested and isolate for 14 days.
It follows an unrelated case in which a Northern Territory mine worker who tested positive on Saturday after spending a night in hotel quarantine. Contact tracers are racing to find those who may have been exposed.
