Crushing win for concrete recycler

The concrete waste recycling facility at Narangba is saving more from going to landfill so less raw materials need to be quarried.
Moreton Bay Recycling now reuses or recycles more than 99.9 per cent of the waste entering its yard, processing an estimated 72,579.24 tonnes per year.
Managing Director Rory Crundall revealed the key to success at the 2023 Moreton Bay Business and Innovation Awards at St Columban's College, Caboolture, on Friday.
“We’ve increased the volume of material we’ve saved from going to the landfill, which is saving the valuable virgin material which is being quarried and the beautiful Australian landscape,” Mr Crundall said after receiving the trophy.
“And keeping carbon in the ground.
“We’ve just kept persevering, adding more to the services we’re offering and building the team. Keeping valuable people in the team has been the key.
“The region is rapidly growing and the support from local government has been pivotal to our success.
“The amount of construction and population moving to the area … you can’t go wrong.”
Moreton Bay Recycling accepts clean concrete waste from building and demolition projects and processes it onsite to create recycled concrete products.
Their CBR80, recycled aggregate, drainage recycled aggregate, compactable fill material, and crusher dust are used by builders, plumbers, landscapers and more.
Most common uses include garden beds, under turf, building pads, under roads/paths/driveways/slabs, drainage, decorative rock, retaining wall filling and pipework drainage.
Customers can also drop off waste and pick up fresh product in one place, or organise local delivery to their location.
Moreton Bay Recycling has also invested in equipment to extract and recycle metal from concrete slabs and uses recycled water in its new concrete pump washout stations.
